SIDE 1: Calling the Four Elements Yield of the Willows |
In the native American way of life on the southwestern deserts of this continent, water is viewed as a very special life-giving being. It, among all beings, is able to move back and forth between the fathering principle, represented by the sun and sky, and the mothering principle, earth. It uniquely bridges and connects them, as we humans are meant to do. And so water has always been honored in its own right as life-giver, and its very special teaching relationship to people. The Journey of the Raindrop is a contemporary celebration of this relationship. Friends, welcome! You have come -- perhaps without knowing it -- to an ancient gathering-place. Here, for years almost beyond memory, the People have gathered to honor the Powers other and greater than themselves that move with them in this living Universe. They come here to praise, to thank, to ask help, and always to affirm the great shifting Balance of Life that holds them in its arms. Listen. The People approach. Hear their drums, their voices. Now, in your midst, they will sing to honor Water and remember The Journey of the Raindrop... |
